USA or American. America comes from the Italian name Amerigo, an early explorer.
It was never used exclusively to describe the Indigenous People. For that, the name "Indian" was used, which became "Red Indian" in Fiji to
distinguish from the Black Indians or Mela-Indians of the Sub-Continent who were brought to Fiji by the British to work for them as sugar gentlemen.
