with the historic name of the indigenous people, which is Maori. Therefore, no problem. It is the theft of name I am concerned with. At least non-indigenous
have the sensitivity or decency not to call themselves Maori, unlike some People in Fiji.
Besides, in Fiji there is a common name: Fiji Citizen.
The fact that diasporics want to go further than that means that they want to stamp out diversity and marginalize the indigenous people.
If he wants to join the family, he needs to marry his daughter off to a Fijian. That is the only way. Even then he himself does not become a Fijian, but he
becomes a grandfather of a Fijian and an inlaw of a Fijian.
It is the deliberate attempt to weaken and marginalize a race which he sees as competitive. It he was truly multi-racial in his mindset, he would be worrying
more about being sensitive to other cultures than pleasing himself by taking someone elses name.
