I had running debates in the 1990s with Francis Sokonibogi of (Kudru ni Vanua). In the end, there was agreement that Fijian as a common name was good for the
country. Submissions to that effect was made to the Constitution Review Commission (CRC), but at the time, there was resistance in rural Fiji against Fijian
being used as a common name. So the compromise was Fiji Islanders. However following the prmulgation of the 1997 Constitution, none of the governments
including LQs attempted to remove the communal Fijian/Indian distinctions from immigration forms, passport applications, birthcertificate etc. As a result, the
Fijian/Indian distinction continued.
For LQ to support Fiji Islander is a joke. Not to mention the Methodist Church which supported the fusion of church and state, indigenous nationalism and nationalist coups.
All I can say is that the military council will never support any ethnonationalists.
