Why is Fiji interim guys saying it's okay for China to crack down? It's about those loans I guess. Stradding the river and doing the splits if you show sympathy to the Tibetan people.

Posts: 17 04/23/08 02:54:19	Anybody out there? Anybody listening? It will be interesting to see what happens during the Olympic torch relay tomorrow in Canberra. Will the minders of the torch in blue be pushed to the back or will they guard it with their bodies as they say? I personally think there is a huge contradiction here - the torch representing good will among nations, but at the same time, the relay has proved to be about anger and arguments. Nana Levu, if you read this, - will you be cheering on the young athletes who are mostly non-political anyway. (Mrs 'Damanu')

Posts: 8729 04/24/08 08:41:55 Wanton Woman	All I saw was all the Chinese students wandering around Civic during the afternoon with blank faces wondering "why are we in this boring place?". They estimate the crowd was 20,000. 10,000 of these were Chinese students bussed in from Sydney and Melbourne. Conspicuously waving their Chinese flags. Cut your bloody student grants if you don't wave eagerly. A few thousand Tibet supporters. 500 police. Media reps. So who was there to watch the torch? Olympic torch protesters released on bail Posted 1 hour 41 minutes ago Seven arrests: Police carry a protester away outside Parliament House (AAP: Alan Porritt) Seven protesters detained by police during yesterday's Olympic torch relay have been released on bail. The demonstrators were arrested and charged for attempting to disrupt the relay. They were given police bail late yesterday. Despite clashes between pro-China and pro-Tibet demonstrators and allegations of aggressive behaviour towards Tibetan supporters, no one was charged with assault. The ACT's chief police officer Michael Phelan says his members took appropriate action where necessary. "There are people that will be appearing before the magistrates court at a date to be fixed and they've all been charged with offences under the Major Events Security Act for interfering with the running of the torch," he said.
